How strange is this?

The rebellious, antisocial people among us demonstrate their need to be noticed in many ways. “Look at my tags everywhere – I’m the guy who can’t spell ‘disaster’ or ‘chaos’, or ‘havoc’”. “Look at me – don’t you love my noisy exhaust” “Look at me – entertaining the whole street with my stereo and doing a silly little dance as well” “Look at me – my big macho dog is taking me for a walk” “Look at me – with purple spikes in my hair and studs in my nose, and a rude T shirt, I’m really in your face!” “Look at me – walking naked down the street”

Just a minute, what was that last one? Walking naked down the street? We’ve never seen that, have you? We don’t think the police are overworked on cases like this. There aren’t many calls complaining about people creating a disturbance by walking around naked. Well, why not? If we could figure out what we, as a society, are doing which somehow prevents even the most rebellious people among us from walking naked down the street, perhaps we could spread that social pressure to some of these other antisocial behaviours. We don’t have to work hard to prevent people from strolling around naked. We don’t need campaigns against it. No one needs therapy to prevent them from doing this. How come? Is it about attitudes? Is it about the weather? If you have any theories why we do have taggers, but we don’t have naked strollers, please tell us, we’d love to hear them.
